Our story
Signworld as a company was first formed in 2010 when the Signworld website (www.signworldlearn.com) was launched. Over the years, the Signworld team has developed a number of online learning packages for BSL learners, and teaching materials for teachers.
The Signworld Director and owner is Linda Day, the former Director of the Centre for Deaf Studies, University of Bristol, and a well-known teacher, trainer, video and television presenter.
More recently, Signworld has diversified its services to include BSL translation work and interpreter training, bringing together Linda’s own many years of experience working at university with the knowledge, skills and experience of other qualified interpreters, translators and teachers working currently in the field.
Moving into our 6th year of delivering interpreter training, we will be inviting applications for our 6th cohort from April 2022 onwards.
We are unique as all the teachers, director and administrator are all qualified Interpreting or Translation and almost all of us are native BSL and are bilinguals.
