Ready to start your journey to qualify as a Sign Language interpreter?
Are you the type of person who likes to be kept on track?
You don't want a university course but you want to go down an academic route?
Perhaps an NVQ does not suit your style of learning but you would excel on a taught programme with regular tuition, deadlines, peer support and an environment in which to flourish?
Then join us in Bristol for the IBSL “Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting Studies”.
Programme starts September 2019, enabling you to qualify (subject to assessment) in July 2021.
The course includes a set amount of mentoring time which can be used before, during and after the learners have successfully registered as qualified interpreters, so no one is left alone after qualifying.
All learners will be taught advanced skills in BSL - which will enable learners to apply specialised BSL in interpreting practice
Learners will not just study the minimum standard requirements, but study all aspects of interpreting so they can be assured that, when qualified, they have a thorough understanding of what is required in various situations.
Learners will be taught by 3 teachers - two are native BSL users, from Deaf families. Two of them are qualified interpreters and one is a qualified translator.
We have devised a programme that should see you registered and working as a Trainee Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI) at approximately the half-way point, with the aim of achieving RSLI status at the end of the course. Sessions will take place over one full weekend (Saturday/Sunday) per month.
Training will be delivered at a convenient and easily accessible location in Bristol, which can be easily reached from across the country.
The two-year programme is competitively priced at £5,800 inc VAT, plus the IBSL Learner Registration Fees of £526.
We are interviewing in July 2019.
Interviews cost £80 including VAT.
The deadline for applications is 30th June 2019.
